Memoirs from the distant past

For those of you who don’t know, there is a website called FutureMe where you can send yourself emails in the future. As per below, on the 6th of January 2006 I sent myself an email to be delivered on the 14th of September 2009. It arrived yesterday and here is what it said:

The following is an e-mail from the past, composed on Friday, January 6, 2006, and
sent via FutureMe.org

Dear FutureMe,

I assume by now you are either pregnant or have had a child. I hope that is going
well. Hopefully you and Andrew are no longer in Newhaven. Blech.

Life now is fine. Drake is still peeing in the house and Zuzu is still eating the
sofa. Although I love it when Drake snores.

We just finished the first week back from the New Year break. I work at St. John’s
and Andrew is at the university. We’re both very happy with our jobs.

Andrew got a Clovelly donkey a few months ago from some anonymous person and
yesterday he got a tiny jug.

I have a troll living in my bellybutton.

Right now my biggest concerns are my weight and where to live and I’m feeling very
trapped. I used the “plane stuck in a holding pattern” to Anna and it fit well.
(She is pregnant by the way and they will induce her any week now. They’re thinking
of naming the baby Rebecca (Adair) Traush but don’t want the initials to be RAT.)

Mom, Dad and Eric are coming to visit in 5 weeks and we’re all going to Rome! Very
exciting.

So — that’s it from here. Things to remember:
You love the little dip in Andrew’s nose. You love the way he gives the absolute
best hugs. You love the way he always tries to fix things even when you don’t want
him to. You love how when you roll over on your side, Andrew rolls over too so you
can snuggle. You like to go “vuuuu” to each other and you call him bubbie.

Say to him, “You ok, comfy?” Call him poogie. Go on a date. Give him a pedicure.

Most of all: LOVE YOURSELF!
